Korean made bullion United Nations Partisan Infantry shoulder sleeve insignia named to SFC William "Bill" Miller. This patch was made in Inchon or Seoul Korea. SFC Miller served with the 4th Airborne Ranger Infantry Company, 8240th AU - 1st Partisan Airborne Infantry Regiment and the 8097th AU during the Korean War.

A uniform removed, Japanese machine embroidered United Nations Partisan Infantry Korea patch attributed to PFC Allen Hedges. PFC Hedges was one of the original 99 10th Special Forces Group soldiers that were assigned to the 8240th AU. He was part of the 1st shipment, 27 February 1953, that consisted of 17 officers and 5 enlisted men and served as an Advisor to the 6th PIR.

An unfinished variant example of a Japanese made UNPIK SSI. The patch is slightly smaller and narrower, the front cloud area is unfinished, and shows a white twill base cloth. The edge is a solid blue, the scroll is edged in black and there are no mountain peaks shown.

There are plenty of wartime photos showing the UNPFK and UNPIK patches in wear. This 8240th document was sent to me by Frank Waitzmann and solves the mystery as to why you don't encounter uniforms bearing a UNPFK or UNPIK shoulder sleeve insignia. The armistice signed on July 27, 1953, formally ended the war in Korea. Notice the date on this document, 23 October 1954.
