Kyung Jin Choi, who served in Donkey 5 and then Donkey 7 between late 1950 to 1954. He was attending university in Seoul when the war broke out and unable to get home to his family in Pyongyang, he took the route which would enable him to go behind enemy lines and find out what happened to them while fighting the communists. The picture was taken in 1953 at a memorial that was erected to honor the guerrillas that died fighting with Donkey 15 (White Horse). The commander was Kim Eung Soo. Many of the soldiers shown were from Pyongan Province that had fled their home area and formed a guerrilla group in November 1950, and then moved to Baekryoung Island. It later moved to Daehwado where it suffered heavy attacks and suffered extremely high casualties.
